ROAS treats all revenue equally – regardless of margin
Your bidding algorithm cannot distinguish a €200 order at 60% margin from a €200 order at 5% margin. It optimizes for both equally.
The #1 POAS Bidding Solution Tailored To Ecommerce
Your bidding algorithm cannot distinguish a €200 order at 60% margin from a €200 order at 5% margin. It optimizes for both equally.
Sale items drive high ROAS numbers because AOV stays high, but after deep discounts the actual profit per order can be minimal.
A refunded order still counts as a full-value conversion. Google and Meta never learn which campaigns drive high return rates.
Without profit data, your ads over-spend on returning customers who would buy anyway and under-invest in high-value new customer acquisition.
Smart bidding chases the biggest conversion values. That means expensive, low-margin products get more budget than smaller, high-margin ones.
When you send revenue as the conversion value, the algorithm maximizes revenue — not profit. It is doing exactly what you told it to do, just not what you need.
When you switch from ROAS to POAS bidding, the algorithm stops chasing revenue and starts chasing profit. The results compound fast.
POAS is not just for Google Ads

Unlock profit metrics and profit optimization in Google, Meta & TikTok Ads with server‑side tracking + POAS bidding.
Turn Your Ads into a Profit Engine.
ROAS doesn’t always equal success. Stop optimizing for revenue and start optimizing for profit. Reaktion sends your real profit data to ad platforms, so Google, Meta & TikTok bid based on actual business value, not inflated ROAS numbers.
That’s how you scale profitably.
❌ Platforms chase AOV, not profit (hello, deep discount orders).
❌ Hidden costs like returns are masked by revenue metrics.
❌ Smart bidding ignores profit data = misallocation of spend.
Most brands over-optimize for revenue. But what happens when 20% of that gets refunded? With Reaktion, you can track and optimize based on the profit that actually stays in your business.
POAS bidding for ecommerce
ROAS tells you how much revenue your ads generate. It does not tell you whether that revenue was profitable. A campaign with 5x ROAS can still lose money if the products sold carry thin margins, heavy discounts, or high return rates. POAS bidding fixes this by sending actual profit data to Google Ads, Meta, and TikTok so the algorithm chases orders that make money, not just orders that look good in a dashboard.
Send gross profit as the conversion value to Google Ads, Meta, and TikTok. The algorithm optimizes toward profitable orders instead of high-AOV, low-margin ones.
Identify campaigns that look good on ROAS but destroy margin. Scale the ones that drive real profit after COGS, shipping, discounts, and returns.

How POAS bidding works
*Based on general observations across Reaktion users. Results are not guaranteed and vary by business, margin structure, and market conditions.
ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) has been the default performance metric for ecommerce advertising. But ROAS only measures revenue relative to spend. It cannot distinguish between a profitable order and an unprofitable one. A campaign with 4x ROAS might be losing money if the products sold carry 15% margins, 25% return rates, or deep promotional discounts.
When you optimize Google Ads, Meta Ads, or TikTok Ads for ROAS, the algorithm learns to chase high-revenue orders. That often means prioritizing high-AOV products regardless of margin, over-indexing on discount-driven purchases, ignoring return-prone categories, and treating a returning customer the same as a new one. The result: your dashboard shows strong ROAS while your P&L tells a different story.
POAS bidding solves this by replacing revenue with profit as the optimization signal. Instead of telling Google “this order was worth €200,” you tell it “this order generated €47 in gross profit.” The algorithm then learns which audiences, keywords, products, and placements drive actual profit, not just top-line revenue.
The shift from ROAS to POAS bidding changes what the algorithm values. Instead of maximizing revenue per ad dollar, it maximizes profit per ad dollar. This single change cascades through your entire campaign structure: budget allocation, audience targeting, product prioritization, and bidding aggression all shift toward profitability.
For ecommerce brands running Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, or PrestaShop, this means the ad platform finally understands which products and customers are worth acquiring, and which ones just inflate vanity metrics.
Maximizes revenue per ad dollar. Treats all revenue equally regardless of margin.
Maximizes gross profit per ad dollar. Prioritizes high-margin orders and profitable customers.
Chases high-AOV sale items because revenue looks strong, even at 5% margin.
Deprioritizes deep-discount orders because profit signal is low. Shifts spend to full-margin products.
No return visibility. A refunded order still counts as full revenue in optimization.
Profit after refunds can be sent as the value. Algorithm learns which segments have high return rates.
POAS bidding requires sending profit as the conversion value instead of revenue. This means your tracking setup must calculate gross profit per order in real time and pass it to ad platforms via server-side events. Here is how it works across the major platforms:
Reaktion connects to Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, PrestaShop, and others to pull order data including product costs, fees, shipping, and discounts.
For each conversion, Reaktion calculates: Revenue minus COGS, minus shipping costs, minus transaction fees, minus discounts. This gives you the true gross profit for that specific order.
The profit value is sent as a server-side event to Google Ads (enhanced conversions), Meta (Conversions API), and TikTok (Events API).
In Google Ads, use Target ROAS as your bidding strategy. Because the conversion value is profit, Target ROAS effectively becomes Target POAS. In Meta, create a new campaign optimized for the profit event.
POAS bidding works with any ad platform that supports value-based optimization and any ecommerce platform where order-level cost data is available. Reaktion handles the profit calculation and server-side delivery.
Ecommerce brands switching from ROAS to POAS bidding typically see measurable improvements within 30 to 60 days. Common observations include: 15–30% increase in profit from the same ad spend, and a 20% reduction in customer acquisition cost.
